Hi, my name is Catherine Quimby, manager at Gingerbread LittleVersity Downtown. I welcome you to your first look at our center. Our center strives to provide a developmentally appropriate program where all children are able to grow as individuals in a loving environment as they master skills and develop a positive self-image. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop to his/her full potential. Our purpose is to provide stimulating experiences, family support and encouragement to help your child through the learning years.

We value diversity and encourage children and staff of any ethnic origin to be part of our child care family. The educational curriculum at Gingerbread LittleVersity is based upon the belief that young children learn best through play. Educated and trained teachers create and implement age appropriate and fun lesson plans, which focus on hands-on, concrete, integrated activities and encourage self confidence, spontaneity, curiosity and self discipline. Our teachers are role models, facilitators and evaluators, encouraging the successful development of every child. Individual, small group and large group activities are planned daily ensuring a balanced educational experience for all children.

Classrooms are designed for young learners by providing age appropriate toys and equipment. Each classroom is arranged in learning centers which include blocks, math, manipulatives, science & discovery, sand & water, music, and art. Our teachers encourage young children to visit these centers throughout the day to play, explore, experiment and create.

We believe the success of our school depends largely on our teachers. Each member of our team has prior experience working with young children, has completed or is working towards a degree program and possesses a teaching philosophy consistent with that of Gingerbread LittleVersity. All of our teachers are trained thoroughly upon hire, and as required by Gingerbread LittleVersity and the state, all must fulfill additional training throughout the school year. Each must also complete and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
