WHERE LEARNING AND FUN ARE ROLLED INTO ONE!
In 1980, Libby Crumpton saw a real need for educational preschool for Fuquay Varina and opened Gingerbread LittleVersity Downtown. Having a background in education and being a public school teacher for 17 years, she was able to develop an educationally sound curriculum for the preschoolers. In 1988, we opened our second center, Gingerbread LittleVersity Uptown. Successfully, we opened our third center, Gingerbread LittleVersity North End, in 1997.
Preschool is a very rewarding and demanding business. We have several hundreds of children who have been very successful in "real school". It is our pleasure now to be serving children of our children. We invite you to become part our family and enjoy the fun way to learn by playing.
Communication between parents, teachers, directors and owners is crucial. We have multiple ways which we communicate daily with our parents. Owners are on site and accessible at Gingerbread LittleVersity everyday. We want to hear your concerns and build relationships with parents in our community. It is important to us that parents are thrilled and are confident with the care they receive. It is our goal to not only keep our parents children but their grandchildren as well. The only way to reach this goal is through open communication and hearing what parents want and need from their childcare facility.
Our directors are generally here on site between 8:30am and 5:30 pm. Please call to check on your child’s health or well being for the day. Parents are also invited to join us on Facebook to keep updated on what is happening right now at Gingerbread LittleVersity.
Our Teachers are the people who are nurturing and teaching your children everyday. Teacher hours vary but there is a communication log in each classroom to leave notes to teachers or teachers to parents. A parent teacher conference can be arranged at a time convenient for the parent. Teachers also send home daily report sheet of your child’s eating, sleep, bathroom and play activities. Any concerns should be brought to your director immediately without hesitation. We will do what is possible to make Gingerbread LittleVersity a wonderful memory in your child’s life.
As parents search for a home away from home safety is a top priority. At Gingerbread LittleVersity we have secured doors that require a personal code to enter the building. Anyone without a code must ring the bell to enter. All of our classrooms have glass windows to allow parents to view their child. We have multiple ways that we track children throughout the day. There is computer check-in and check-out, classroom rolls, and 30 minute headcount sheets. All teachers retain an Emergency Contact notebook in their classroom. All teachers hold CPR and First Aid certifications.
Our facilities each have secured entrances to keep the children in and strangers out. Each classroom is equipped with an observation window so parents may watch teachers interacting with the children. Teachers are CPR, First Aid, and Playground certified. Each employee is subject to in-depth background checks.
We believe the teaching staff at each of our childcare centers is the cornerstone for implementing our mission. Our teachers provide a safe and nurturing environment, promote each child's creativity and positive self image, while administering quality instruction. Our teachers are carefully selected and trained. At the time of hire, each teacher undergoes a criminal background check and extensive orientation. We require all teachers to have an Associates or BS in Early Childhood Education, CPR, First Aid, and continuing education hours. Gingerbread LittleVersity is currently seeking several teachers. Fine and gross motor skills, sensory skills, language development, and music development are included in the weekly lesson plan. Infants are introduced one on one to each of these skills as they develop at their own pace. Music is an important medium used in this room. Newborns are held and cuddled throughout the day, and the teacher talks and sings with each child on a continuous basis. Some American Sign Language signs are used to provide better communication between child and teacher. Gingerbread LittleVersity follows the Infant Safe Sleep Policy. This policy ensures that our babies sleep soundly on the back without any other interference in the crib. The baby is monitored and taken note of every 15 minutes until awakened.
Infant care provides:
Play space with age appropriate equipment, toys and books
Individual cribs with 360 degree viewing for rest time

We use a thematic curriculum in our childcare centers to enhance their curiosity and learning. Teachers work on gross motor skills, fine motor skills and lots of language development with the toddlers. Play centers are introduced in the toddler room so the children learn to interact in the dramatic play, block, gross motor, art and book centers. Two-year old's lesson plans include sensory development through creative art, everyday life development by learning self help skills such as washing hands and putting on coats/shoes, language development through books and songs, small hand-eye manipulative development through puzzles, and movement with music. Children also learn through block play, water play and outside play. Teachers promote life skills by:
Teaching table manners
Encouraging social and language skills
Finger plays, nursery rhymes, and songs

Our Junior Kindergarteners enjoys hands-on activities and visitors that enhance their learning adventures, as well as enrichment programs.
Give your child the best preschool education with the GingerPrep curriculum. We are a teaching preschool, not a daycare. As part of our Three and Four Year Old Preschool program, we offer our GingerPrep Curriculum, an age-appropriate learning system we developed over the years, which includes learning filled activities for children of all ages. The GingerPrep Curriculum is a phonics based reading and writing curriculum wrapped into weekly lesson plans with themes and bundles of fun-filled learning for your child. As a preschool, we prepare your child for Kindergarten with all of the educational and social skills that will give them an advantage in their critical early education.
Your child will amaze you in the evenings with what he has learned at preschool that day, whether it is hand signing the alphabet or explaining how caterpillars turn into butterflies. The teachers strive to know each child and parent on a personal level.
Lesson plans provide opportunity for among other things:
Physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development
Encouragement of originality and creativity
